The Conseil Québécois de la Musique (CQM) has named French-Canadian harpist-composer Caroline Lizotte the recipient of its Prix Opus Concert of the Year award for the 2024–2025 season in the category “Impulsions anciennes, classiques, romantiques, modernes, postmodernes.” This award, presented at the 29th Prix Opus Gala on Feb. 8, recognizes concerts focusing on original works inspired by classical music of various time periods.
Lizotte says her greatest wish for her music is that it will be performed for a long time to come. “I hope that it will be heard by many people and that it will touch many hearts too—that one can listen to it with the same enthusiasm as the one who interprets [and performs] it,” she says.
The winning concert, Lizotte joue Lizotte, took place Oct. 23, 2024, at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montréal, presented in the concert series of the Chapelle musicale du Bon-Pasteur. Lizotte performed her own compositions for harp, with guest violinist Caroline Chéhadé joining her for a portion of the program. The concert was produced by Lizotte and Étienne Ratthé, directors of RougébLeuë Productions.
