The ARD International Music Competition has announced the repertoire for its 72nd edition. The competition will be held in Munich in four stages Aug. 28–Sept. 15, 2023. This year’s categories include harp, double bass, piano trio, and viola. Harpists of all nationalities born between 1994 and 2006 are eligible to apply. The deadline for registration is March 31, 2023.

This year’s jury for harp includes chairperson Marie Pierre Langlamet, as well as jury members Sarah Christ, Anneleen Lenaerts, Bryn Lewis, Ion Ivan Roncea, Petra van der Heide, and Jessica Zhou.

The first prize winner will receive an award in the amount of €10,000; second prize and third prize awards are €7,500 and €5,000, respectively. Additional special prizes may be awarded to participants in any category. Prize winners may also be invited to give concerts or make recordings.

First established in 1952, the ARD International Music Competition takes place annually in Munich. It is named for the association of German public radio broadcasters which hosts the competition. Each year’s competition features a different set of instrument and ensemble categories, which means harpists only have the chance to compete every few years. Previous harp winners include Agnès Clément (2016), Emmanuel Ceysson (2009), Anton Sie (2004), and Isabelle Moretti (1983).
