The 10th International Harp Contest in Italy “Suoni d’Arpa” (Sounds of Harp) has announced the repertoire for its 2021 contest, rescheduled from 2020. The competition, created by the Italian Harp Association, will take place Aug. 29–Sept. 1, 2021, at the Fondazione Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale, in the medieval town of Saluzzo. The contest is open to harpists of all nationalities, and is divided into three categories. Applications must be submitted by email by Aug. 10, 2021.
Suoni d’Arpa aims to actively support young harp talents, as well as to increase awareness of Italian repertoire written or arranged for harp. During the contest, the International Harp Festival Suoni D’Arpa will present famous performers and young talents, beginning with the opening concert on Aug. 28.
Repertoire requirements for the contest’s three categories are listed below.
Category A (Lever and pedal harp soloists up to 16 years old by Aug. 10, 2021)
- ● One free choice piece from Celtic Suite n. 5 by Daniele Garella (available from www.stellamattutinaedizioni.it, and Harp Column Music)
- Pellegrino Santucci, Melodia per arpa (available on www.utorpheus.com)
- A freely chosen program lasting a maximum of eight minutes
Category B (Pedal harp soloists up to 20 years old by Aug. 10, 2021)
Preliminary stage
- One sonata by Domenico Scarlatti
- A freely chosen program lasting a maximum of 10 minutes
Final stage
- A freely chosen program lasting a maximum of 15 minutes
Category C (Pedal harp soloists, no age limit)
Preliminary stage
- Sarabanda e Toccata by Nino Rota
- A freely chosen program lasting a maximum of 10 minutes. This program cannot be included in the final stage.
Final stage
