The American Harp Society (AHS) has announced the 2027 Weiger Lepke-Sims Family Sacred Music Award, designed to expand harp repertoire in sacred settings. The composer of the winning work will receive a $600 award, with limited financial assistance (by approval of the award committee) for a performance and recording of the work, as well as promotion of the work through the AHS website and communications.

Composers must be a minimum of 18 years old as of Dec. 31, 2026. The deadline for submission of all materials is Jan. 31, 2027. Compositions must be between three and 30 minutes in length. Instrumentation must include 1) pedal or lever (non-pedal) harp and 2) vocalists and/or instrumentalists. No solo harp compositions will be considered. The harp must be an essential part of a winning composition, and emphasis on a beautiful melody and tonal harmonic structure must be key elements in the final composition.
