The Hampton Roads Harp Competition has announced the winners of its 2025 contest. After a preliminary online round, finalists were invited to perform live at the 9th annual Hampton Roads Harp Festival (HRHF) event, held on March 1 at the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
The winner of the senior division (up to grade 12) was Calene Lee, a student of JoAnn Turovsky. Bernice Li, who studies with Teresa Suen-Campbell, received an honorable mention.
Noella Lee, also a student of JoAnn Turovsky, won the junior division (up to grade 9). Kristine Kelegyan was named runner-up; her teacher is Maya Srapyan.
In the division for grades 8 and below, the judges named Sena Lee as the winner and Freyja Fischer as runner-up; both are students of Melissa Dvorak.
Jury members for this year’s competition included Mary Bircher, Alexis Colner, and Chaerin Kim. Prizes were provided by Lyon & Healy. For more information, visit the HRHF website.
