Rachel Ferris recently joined the faculty of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, as professor of harp, effective August 2024. “I look forward to developing the harp program and continuing to partner with the university on upcoming projects,” Ferris says.

Ferris moved to San Antonio in 1999 after winning an audition for principal harp with the San Antonio Symphony. She performs as an orchestral harpist, chamber musician, soloist, and collaborator with other local performing arts groups. Originally from upstate New York, Ferris began serious study of the harp at the Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan. She continued her studies at the Oberlin College and Conservatory in Ohio, with longtime Cleveland Orchestra harpist and teacher Alice Chalifoux.
