The Ceren Necipoglu Istanbul International Harp Festival has announced its second edition, to be held January 14–19, 2025, in Beyoglu, the historic district of Istanbul. The festival will feature competitions, masterclasses, workshops, and concerts.
The Ceren Necipoglu Istanbul International Harp Festival is now accepting applications for its harp competitions, which consist of two solo harp categories for harpists ages 12 to 24 and one chamber music category. Competition applications are due by Dec. 1. Prizes include monetary awards for the top three competitors in each solo category, as well as for the first prize winner in the chamber music category.
The first prize winner of the Young Artist solo category will also be invited to two events in London, including a solo recital in a concert hall in London as part of the Guildhall Summer Harp Festival 2025 (organized by Imogen Barford), as well as the winner’s choice of a performance, masterclass, or workshop at the harp studio of Sioned Williams. Travel expenses, accommodations, and a harp will be provided.
According to its website, the festival is held in memory of harp teacher Ceren Necipoglu and aims to continue her educational mission: “to share and develop harp artistry and learning, to help all participants discover new horizons, and to stimulate the development of harp culture in Turkey.”
