The United Kingdom Harp Competition has announced the winners of the 2023 contest, which took place April 30 and May 1 in London. Huw Boucher won first prize, including £500, a paid recital opportunity at the 2023 Harp On Wight Festival, and a recital at Salvi London. Aisha Palmer won second prize and received £200 and a paid recital opportunity at the 2023 Harp On Wight Festival. Priyanka Gohal won third prize and £100. Boucher, Palmer, and Gohal are students at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Emilia Agajew was awarded the Sioned Williams Harp Prize, a special prize of £100 given for interesting programming and/or excellent presentation. Agajew is a student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
The competition is organized and sponsored by the United Kingdom Harp Association. This year’s adjudicators were Jean Kelly and Gwenllian Llyr. For more information, visit the competition website.
