Looking for some harp inspiration this year? Lucky for you, harp mini festivals are all the rage. (We’ve defined a mini festival as 4 days or less.) Here are a few of our favorites coming up in the earlier part of 2015:
Camac Harp Weekend in Cardiff, Wales
Camac Harps is sponsoring this mini event Feb. 7-8, at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Performers and presenters include Valerie Aldrich-Smith, Elinor Bennett, Shelley Fairplay, Ben Creighton Griffiths, Meinir Heulyn, Eira Lynn Jones, and Deborah Henson-Conant through live stream video. Registration ends Jan. 31.
Atlanta Harp Festival
The Atlanta Harp Center will host the Atlanta Harp Festival Feb. 27-March 1 at Roswell Presbyterian Church. Performers include Bridget Kibbey and Kim Robertson, along with Elisabeth Remy Johnson, Angie Bemiss, and Mary Jane D’Arville.
The Harp Gathering
The Harp Gathering in Archibald Ohio takes place May 15-17. Performers include Martha Gallagher, Ray Pool, Kim Robertson, Sharon and Dave Thormahlen, TAPESTRY (Denise and Michael Grupp-Verbon) and Frank Voltz.
AHS Summer Institute
The American Harp Society will host its mini-conference geared to students June 21-24 in Logan, Utah. The event includes the AHS National Competition as well as the Lyon & Healy Awards competition, along with workshops and performances.
Lyon & Healy Concert Series
Lyon & Healy is back with a mini version of last year’s hit festival in the form of a concert series July 8-11 at Lyon & Healy Hall. Performers include Sylvain Blassel, the Chicago Harp Quartet, Elizabeth Hainen, Bridget Kibbey, Sivan Magen, Remy van Kesteren, and the 2013 Lyon & Healy Awards Winners.
Somerset Folk Harp Festival
The Somerset Folk Harp Festival is back July 23-26 in Parsipanny, N.J. Performers include Edmar Castaneda, Rhett Barnwell, Angie Bemiss, and many others.
