Monika Vasey Rhodes is a professional harpist in the Washington, D.C. Area, in demand as a performer, teacher, masterclass and ensemble clinician. She maintains a thriving private studio in her home, teaching students of all levels, from beginners to advanced players, and including adults. Her additional experience as an Early Childhood and Elementary Music teacher enhances her work with harp students.Â
Recent career highlights include performances for Kennedy Center Honors attendees at the State Departent, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and for numerous dignitaries including the 44th President of the United States. Current teaching appointments include Levine Music, the Concord Hill School, the Maryland Classic Youth Harp Ensemble, Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and Young Artists of America.  Her new album, "Songs My Mother Sang" is a thoughtful compilation of familiar lullabies, nostalgic memories, and soothing sounds inspired by childhood and family, and is now available on  her website and iTunes. A graduate of the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Vasey holds a Masters and Bachelors degree in Music Education as well a Bachelors degree in Harp Performance. Ms. Vasey enjoys performing as a soloist and orchestral harpist, composing and arranging, as well as her involvement in freelance and studio recording work. An advocate of new music for the harp, she has performed with many associations including the American Harp Society, National Philharmonic, Boston Brass, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Apollo Orchestra, Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Columbia Orchestra, Susquehanna Symphony, National Cathedral Choral Society, Capital Wind Symphony, Montgomery Philharmonic and Virginia Grand Military Band.
