ParticipantBiagio,
Could you tell me the title of Salzado method book?
Thank you!February 25, 2022 at 6:11 pm in reply to: What method /etude books would you recommend for beginner-intermediate student? #284523Nicbo
ParticipantBiagio, thank you for your input! I’ll get all those books. My idea is that I can start with a book that I feel comfortable with and tackle all the suggested method books in easy-to-hard order.
I’ll check out the YouTube channel you suggested!
I’m excited…! Thank you for all you guys’ suggestions!!February 25, 2022 at 5:48 pm in reply to: What method /etude books would you recommend for beginner-intermediate student? #284522Nicbo
ParticipantHi Wil-weten! Thank you for your suggestion! I’ll check out those books by Bruner for sure.
I just started following Josh Layne’s channel, it’s so helpful! He reminds me of Mr.Rodgers and I like how slow he takes it so the instructions are crystal clear. I’m very thankful for those instructors who spend their time and passion to educate others like myself, I can’t thank them enough.
I haven’t looked into slow motion Monday series yet but I know I’ll be pretty soon:D
Thank you again!

ParticipantWow wow… I forgot to breathe while watching it, it’s amazing!! I enjoy being able to watch his fingers so close, great technics! I’m still in a middle of his show so I’ll go back to it now… Hehe
Thank you Gregg for the title!
And I LOVE the sound of it! I’m so excited! I placed an order today, and my harp will arrive in May!Nicbo
ParticipantNice to meet you Gregg!
Thank you for the title! I did have difficulty finding that, I ended up watching people yodelling for 40mins, it’s very easy to get distracted there.I’m going there now with the title you gave me.. I’ll be back!

ParticipantI finally found out how to respond to one person instead of the entire group! Hooray!
Balfour, I just came back from the store today. The lady showed me the different finishes and I narrowed it down to natural and Walmart. I knew I wanted to be able to see the grain so I eliminated the colors that would hide the grain. (Like ebony.) She showed me her harp which was light Walnut and it was very pretty, I had to add that to my option! I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll have to tell her soon before she places the order. I’m going to do lot of image search tonight and hopefully I can make up my mind!
Oh the natural finish Atlantide must be so gorgeous.. thank you for letting me know that the choice of stain will not affect the sound. I’m glad I asked!
Have a good night!

ParticipantHi Biagio!
All what you have written above is not anything i can find anywhere online, wow! You must be a harp maker! (Probably a builder that everyone in this forum knows about! I’m still trying to get to know people well…)Do you sell your own harps? Or have a company? I’d like to visit your website and see your art work.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Biagio!

ParticipantNice to meet you Hearpe and thank you for crystal clear explanation! You put it in a way even I can understand:D I appreciate it!

ParticipantCorrection… When I wrote “I remember I had visited there before” means, I remember coming to this site to ask for advice before. I sounded like I visited Dusty string, but I did not…

ParticipantBalfour!
Yes actually I was harp shopping almost 10 years ago! I remember I had visited there before:) the plan had changed right after and I ended up giving up on purchasing one…but my thoughts has always come back to harp, and I kept looking out for used harps in my neighborhood. For years, I couldn’t find one that worked for me and my situation, I had decided to purchase a new one this year:)
I didn’t get to go check out Dusty string company but I did check out their website! I just know I have to go visit someday:DAbout DUSTY FH36S… Is that for folk tunes? All I know about is lever harp and pedal harp, I’m very ignorant to other harps though they are all harps! It’s like knowing how to make cakes but not cupcakes:D
Thank you Balfour for finding my old post and take time to respond!

ParticipantOh Balfour, thank you so much for your input, website information and encouragement! I have visited camac website but I haven’t looked in deep enough to find that performance, so I will now!
And wow, you must be quite a performer! If you have played many harps and ended up choosing camac, then I won’t have any reason to hesitate anymore:D Of course it won’t be as awesome as Atlantide but still!!I might end up moving to Idaho or Montana near future, and I thought if we don’t have many technicians here, I’ll have even slimmer chance of finding one over there because it’s less populated compared to here in Seattle. So being able to regulate your own harp sure is a big factor for me. I’ll do my best to read the entire manual. I tend to avoid reading manuals in general, but I will do so for my harp:}
Thank you again Balfour! I have another question but I will make a different thread so this thread doesn’t get too long!
And thank you Carl Swanson, Charles-nix and Biagio, for you guys’ wisdom. I appreciate you reading my post and taking time to respond!!
Have a good night!Nicbo
ParticipantBalfour knight,
Thank you for reaching out to me! I was a bit paranoid about posting again, I was hoping to make friends here and it seemed like what I wrote above did exactly the opposite, but I don’t even know how to delete posts either. I’m so behind on technology!
I’m now looking into Camac Egerie, the one you can regulate on your own. I knew finding a harp technician would not be easy so even though I know Salvi, Lion and Healy and all the other make great instruments, I was very interested in camac because of its user friendliness. (Assuming that I can learn to use the kit!)
I’m a bit nervous about Egerie because it is new and I’m not finding many sound samples and that the dealers here in Washington don’t have Egerie at their stores for me to try.
I’d like to make a new post and ask people what they think of it if they have Egerie, but I’m a bit scared to do so haha what if I say something wrong again and make people upset? Is rather want to keep to myself because I hate contention and I don’t want to be the one to create that environment even if it wasn’t intended.
Thank you Balfour:) Thank you!
Nicbo
ParticipantHi everyone,
I’m sorry if I sounded like I did and cause people to be upset:'(
The price is not the problem I was facing, it’s the fact that I didn’t know whether the dealer was being honest or not and I wouldn’t know because I have never bought a harp before. L&H I practiced on growing up was someone else’s.
I have bought violin, piano, Clarinet in the past like I had mentioned, and they all told me if I paid in full they’d give a discount. With this harp purchase, they didn’t offer that until I had mentioned it, like many other hospitals, to me, they seemed to be withholding the information on pay in full for a small discount.I was being skeptical is all, no hard feelings. I don’t believe in “pay how much ever if you can afford it.”
If you’d like me to delete my post, I will do so. Please let me know:'{
Have a good day to you all.
Nicbo
ParticipantNice meeting you, Balfour! Thank you for your two cents:)
I probably shouldn’t feel too bad then that I’m not getting like 10% off. It’s good to know because I only know about purchasing smaller instruments and piano, and those are higher in demand like you said, and that makes sense.
Thank you for your input! And I’ll report back when my harp comes in 5 months! (I have to purchase first, of course!)
