ParticipantThanks for the advice! I talked to a potential teacher, and she kinda left me at the same spot I am now, but I learned a lot once again. Like everyone, she suggested the Ravenna, which seems logical to me. But she encourages full levers very much. And honestly, I *think* I found the perfect harp for me and it only has C and F levers. From what most people have told me, levers aren’t completely necessary. (Just like you said). More advice from her, which I really appreciated was that if its between getting a harp soon or not getting one for a long time, just get the fullsicle. She wouldn’t be disappointed if I showed up to lessons with it. Its just that she would rather she me with the Ravenna.
I really love the harpsicle line for some reason. I think it may be the bright colors and affordable price. I’m very drawn to it. As mentioned, I could outgrow it fast. I almost have a hard time not getting the sicle though. But in conclusion, I’m a mess. hahaha! Its pretty much, if the job comes through, then I’ll get the Ravenna. If it doesn’t, then honestly, it’ll have to be the sicle! Either one I think I’ll be pleased with. After playing the sharpsicle today, I know I really like it but the sound just isn’t as loud.

ParticipantHello again Audrey! I am back from my first ever harp store! It was a great experience! I love the sharpsicle, although the sound is not nearly as powerful as some of the others. I got to try a Salvi, a very big one, and it sounded great but I actually don’t think Im ready for that big of one.
Is it that big at the bottom? I was disappointed they didn’t have the Ravenna in stock. 🙁 But I’ll be going to the Virginia Harp Center soon and I’m hoping they do! I can’t wait to try it out!
I also called Sylvia from the Harp Center and she gave me a lot of useful information. It seems like the Dusty Strings is the much better option, but I can’t help but want the Flatsicle at less than half the price. I did really like the sharpsicle when I played it, and it was the perfect size, definitely a good possibility. I found the Ravenna, with full levers, for under $900 with only $50 shipping. Its just a really hard choice for me. Spend an extra $600 and get the Ravenna OR just get the flatsicle at $325, free shipping. Do you think I’d be disappointed with the flatsicle?
Thanks for all your help!

ParticipantThank you, Audrey, for all the help! I learned a lot! I’m so happy to hear I don’t need levers yet! I think I may just go pick up a Ravenna 26 in a month or two and skip the fullsicle. I even don’t need to pay for shipping because I can go pick it up! I really appreciate the opinions on all the harps! I’m almost positive that the Ravenna is the harp for me! My mom told me she is taking me to the harp store today, because I had been wanting to see the sicles, so I’ll probably know whether or not I want them when I get there. The comparison was really nice, thank you. It sounds like I can be OK getting the Ravenna for “portability”. Not really any difference than my keyboard I suppose. Thank you for all your help! I think I know what I’ll do now!

ParticipantNevermind about the levers! I feel like such a dork! I just figured everything out…like how fullsicles HAVE levers! ohy! Sorry! I’m a total beginner!

ParticipantAlso I was wondering if someone could tell me how much my Flatsicle or Fullsicle would be with levers(good levers). I have no idea how to figure out the lever thing for harps at all. If the fullsicle cost $425 and the flatsicle cost $334, and I was to get full levers, how much would it be?
One more question. What would it compare to getting a Ravenna? I mean I’m a complete beginner with little space to put a harp. So if I got the best of harpsicle’s, the fullsicle, for $425 PLUS full levers, would it be a better deal to get a Ravenna with full levers? I just have no idea what I should do! The Ravenna is sooo expensive for a girl to buy on her own plus I think I’ll need the levers.
Thank you for anyone who is willing to do the math or give me any advice! You’re all so nice!

ParticipantWell its actually very reliable source, just on sale. its brand new. But I accidently wrote fullsicle, its actually the flatsicle. Sorry about that everyone! They’re not just selling one, they have tons. Actually a few sites are selling them at the price of $334 I believe, very good price IMO. The harpsicles only cost $224 on those sites too. Plus FREE SHIPPING(one of my favorite terms haha)! The fullsicle is I think $425 on the webiste, compared to the almost $800 price from harpsicle directly.
Thanks so much for all the info everyone! I have GREAT NEWS, its seems pretty certain that I’ll be getting a job! So I might be able to get a “real” harp within a few months! YAY! I don’t have any expenses, other than tithing, so I can put all the money I earn into my harp fund! yay! Plus I think I found my harp teacher! I mostly considering the Ravenna, since its such a good beginner’s harp. But what does everyone think about the Noteworthy County Clare 22? I can afford that one and I could pick it up very close! The harp store is selling it for $550. They also have Blevins Bouree for $920, which is A LOT of money and I don’t think I could spend quite that much without my parents having a heart attack. But I’d still like opinions! Thanks!

ParticipantThank you Audrey! All your advice is so helpful! Hmmmm…I’m not sure about the harp kit, it seems like a great price but I’ve never built anything really! haha! I keep hearing a lot about the Ravenna, and its a big thing to consider. I mean I might be able to get it somehow. I’m sure I could save. Its probably between that and one of the sicles(hopefully the fullsicle). And thanks for the tip about the “knee bones”, that will be at the top of my list if I get the sicle! 🙂

ParticipantForgot to add, space is a huge thing too. My room is very tiny and theres no where else to put it in the house. I have a keyboard, which at least can be pretty small under a bed and such. Thats the reason that the harpsicle seems like the harp to me. Money and space. I’ll also be going to college and possible taking it with me. The harpsicle just seems great, but I haven’t heard quite as great things on this forum. Everywhere else seems to give it 5 stars though. I’m just unsure!
