Thanks! I just can’t hear the arpeggio correctly, he doesn’t seem to be playing 4-3-2-1, but 4-2-3-1 but it’s to fast for my ear.
There is a little trick that can help you with this. When you tune the string (set to flat), be sure to press the upper part of the string (around the tuning discs) with your fingers inwards when you are done. This will make the tension of the string equal throughout the whole length of the string, not only in the lower part (from the discs to the soundboard). Hope I was clear. 🙂

what a fantastic post you wrote there.It is very reassuring to know that I am not on a wrong path when thinking that truly mastering a peace takes a lot more than one semester (4-5 months).
During my harp education, I was always pushed to work fast, and now that I have began my studies, even faster. And although this can be a good thing in terms of learning to adapt to situations and time limits, I always felt that a true mastery in performance is achieved through “fermentation” of the piece, after all the technical problems have been solved.
Glad to see I wasn’t wrong in thinking so!
If it’s not a problem, I’d be really grateful for that practice sheet.

I’m a male harpist from Belgrade Serbia. I’m 23, and started playing the harp when I was 16. I have just started my studies at the Music Academy, and I am the first male harpist at my school. Not a lot of guys play the harp here I guess.
As for the harp, I personally think it all comes down to the sound. Those of you who have had the luck of going to some bigger harp store, and trying out more harps belonging to the same model, could have seen how different they sound. I would never choose a more simple harp to a highly-decorated one if the difference in sound was big. But I do agree that nowadays makers tend to make more simple harps, Salvi Apollo being my personal favorite.
I have an old Lunacharskogo harp, which is very good for practicing, but nothing more. Hopefully I will get a concert harp one day.You said: “I never felt like I ever finished anything.”
In my opinion, the beauty in music is that you never truly finish any peace. Just imagine how boring that would be! Sure, you can push it to your limits until you reach the top for your current level of playing, but after a few years I am sure there would still be loads to improve.
This should not be a reason for you too feel stressed about.For me personally, the best thing for relaxing is just sitting at my harp, and playing one base tone and enjoying it’s sound. It always draws a smile on my face, and makes me remember why I love this instrument!
