ParticipantI had also thought there were no transport covers or cases made specifically for the Troubadour harps. But they’re on or near the last page of the cases and covers section of the harp.com site. There are open-bottom ones and wheeled ones. Both are the same price. I have an Ogden and would like to buy a Troubadour. I also plan on keeping the Ogden and have no plans to buy a pedal harp. I’m always happy to read everyone’s thoughts on both of these lever harps and plans to buy one or the other or both.

ParticipantI would keep the little Ogden for sheer portability, and just enjoy the large size of the Troubadour at home, ha, ha! The older I get, the more trouble it is to move a big harp out of my house. Since I am retired, my Camac Atlantide Prestige concert grand pedal harp no longer has to go anywhere, so if I take a harp out for my own pleasure, like on vacation, it will be my Dusty Strings FH36S. She is very portable, even for an old guy like me, ha, ha!
Harp Hugs and best wishes,

ParticipantPamela,
I’m so glad you mentioned the transport case for the L&H Troubadour complete with wheels; I’d never seen that before! I wonder if they only came out with that relatively recently. I had emailed L&H a couple of years ago asking about a transport cover for the Troubadour, but I was told at that time that they didn’t make any transport covers for the Troub. Surely they would’ve told me about that case with wheels if it had been in existence! I’ve now sent another email asking if that’s a new product, just out of curiosity!
Thank you for posting the info!

ParticipantTransport top cover for a Lyon & Healy Prelude will fit a Troubadour. It’s a little large but it fits.

ParticipantI keep going back and forth on whether I want more harps or not and which one(s). I’m back to thinking about the Troubadour. Today I paid more attention to the cases and covers. There is quite a bit of difference in the weight of the open-bottom cover and the wheeled case. And I doubt it’s only because of the wheels. One is a dust cover and the other is more of a case type thing. The descriptions make it sound like a person could actually consider moving any harp around with only a dust cover on it. Moving a little ways, yes. Transporting in a vehicle, maybe depending on the size, weight, type of harp, etc. Anyway, I’m starting to think the wheeled case may be more heavily padded.

ParticipantThe more padding, the better! I can’t tell you how many times my deluxe transport covers have saved my harps from significant damage over the years.

ParticipantI have in of the Salvi cases with wheels, and it looks just like that troubadour one. They’re very well padded inside, and I feel very safe transporting my harp in it!

ParticipantI have owned a roosbeck 29 string harp for the past 5+ years and loved it! But the neck just cracked clean in two. I was wondering if that is fixable or if I should just buy a new harp. I’m not sure why it cracked it wasn’t good quality or the fact it was near a fireplace would have made it cracked?
Also been looking at Reverb and Mikel harps…are they good quality and has anyone had one long term and it’s held up!

ParticipantHannah, if you are serious about playing and enjoying the harp, I would advise you to get a higher quality harp. Acclaimed makers include Dusty Strings, Lyon & Healy, Camac, Musicmakers, Salvi, Thormahlen and others you can find on-line.
Have a great day!
