Just wondering how all of you bring your harps to university… or really, where you put it. I’m not planning on taking a music major but I don’t want to give up playing and I’m positive a harp would NOT fit in my res room. Universities haven’t been very forthcoming on where I can store my harp… It’s a Lyon and Healy style 85 E.

If you will not be given a locked practice room to keep it in, your room is the only safe option, so housing must give you one large enough, or a single, or you might have to

I know two harp students at UBC who kept their harps in their rooms in residence. I imagine they had to negotiate the hours when they could practise without distrubing people.

Check with the faculty and administrators who specifically work in the music department about getting access to a practice room.

My students at Duke have a beautiful school harp to use for practice and performing.
The school does not allow them to store their instruments at the school. Others who have brought their harps have single dorm rooms and practice without a problem.
