    Hi all,

First post here! I noticed earlier today that one of the strings on my year-old Salvi Egan has started to buzz or twang a little when the lever is engaged. I’ve done some research and it looks like the lever just needs to be tightened. I confirmed that when I realized pressing the lever against the neck while it’s engaged actually got rid of the buzz altogether.

So the next step is for me to find the right-sized screwdriver … Salvi’s website says a 5/64″ wrench but doesn’t specify what type of tip. I think it looks like a hex, but I don’t want to buy a bunch of screwdrivers that don’t work AND I don’t want to hurt my harp any further!

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this and could direct me to the appropriate screwdriver. 🙂

    Thank you!

    Caleigh,
Those are performance levers on your Salvi and it is not a hex wrench that you need. Lyon Healy sells a tool kit online at Harp.com with a set of tools that contains the little screwdriver you need to tighten that screw along with 3 hex wrenches and another tool that all fit various screws on the harp. I don’t know where you are located but here in the US the cost is $11.50. It is called a lever regulation tool kit.

Before doing that I would unwind the string, pull it up and see if you still have the problem. There are an awful lot of winds on the tuning pins, and that may be affecting how the string is seating in the groove on the pin. Can’t really tell from the photo.

Thank you, both of you! I looked up the lever regulation kit and the one I really need is the 5/64″ wrench ball driver (http://us.harp.com/info/products/pact_show/id_19395832/). I live in Canada, so it’s not the most convenient to order through harp.com — I’m going to try my luck at a couple local hardware stores and, if I don’t have luck there, then I’ll consider ordering online.

Thanks for all the advice. I’ll try unwinding the string, too.
