Thanks, Cecioboe. I missed seeing your post before I posted the one from Dusty myself, ha, ha! Our minds must have been thinking alike that day. Apparently, you could use the string buttons all the way down into the 5th octave of a pedal harp, as long as the strings would fit through the holes. 2MM is pretty large for a string. The lowest gut string, 5th octave A is around 2.30 MM in gut. Since Dusty uses inches and MM, one has to be very careful about the gauges.

    Have a great day,
    Balfour

    Hi Balfour,

Oh wow, I missed that they were talking inches and not cm!

    Thanks for correcting that.

You are welcome, Ceci! Inches vs. MM has often confused me through the years, and I have tools to measure both, thank goodness. Since I discovered and began using the New Nylgut NGH strings by Aquila, I have to think in MM’s. I made a chart of harp string gauges in inches AND MM’s, so that I always have that on hand. It saves having to do the conversions over and over again! My Camac pedal harp is in MM’s and my Dusty lever harp is in inches!

    Best regards, and harp hugs,
    Balfour

Well everyone, I just discovered that harp stringing buttons are not the ONLY stringing devices available. Look on the Internet for “guitar stringing beads.” These are not as expensive as the ones from Dusty, and may also work on harps. They even come in several different makes and colors. Has anyone tried these on a harp, or do any of you out there play guitar and may have used these? One learns something new every day, it seems!

    Harp and guitar hugs,
    Balfour
