    Hi everyone,

I am just starting to learn the harp, and I seem to have reactivated a past repetitive strain injury (from 2004) in my right hand.. I feel a lot of pain in the fingers… Does anyone have any suggestions how to help my hand? I want to buy a harp because I am very excited about it, but part of me is worried that I won’t be able to play it in future because of the injury… has anyone else gone through this and what would you suggest…

    Thanks!

    Tanya

    Tanya,

    First, check with your Dr.

You might consider a wire strung harp as they take a lighter touch, much lighter. Hope this helps.

When I first began to play the harp a few years ago, I could barely manage for ten minutes at a time due to pain in my hands, mainly my thumbs.
