Hi everyone, me and a flutist and violist are planning to play this piece, but I only have the version with Cello. My question is, how different is the viola part vs the cello part? Also does anyone know if we can get only the viola part without having to buy the whole score again? Thanks in advance.

As someone who plays viola and cello, I can comfortably say that a skilled violist could play the cello part an octave higher. As most violists are not used to reading bass clef, it would be a little more challenging in that regard, but it should be doable. However, I am unfamiliar with this piece, so cannot say how food it would or would not sound. Unless Ravel did something very odd, I would expect it to sound very nice.

It was published with a viola part, so if you don’t have one, contact Lyra to have them send you one.
