MemberOk so…. I started this post as I feel so very very proud of my daughter as Im sure any Mum of a young Harpist does!
She played her harp a few weeks ago at the Royal Albert Hall in London UK as part of an Orchestra, we had to deliver the harp to the stage door early in the Morning leaving her there to rehearse all day, then we returned for the evening performance.
It was the most wonderful day for her, to play in this beautiful and historic building, an honour and one she will never ever forget. My Husband and I were so very proud it bought tears to our eyes especially when she played a solo, our proudest moment ever. attached is a piccy of her harp she took in the day, unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos but a video should be arriving in the post anyday and I will post some stills of it.
Do let us know yours as a harpist or as a parent it would be lovely to hear your stories, I am sure there are many xxxJune 6, 2013 at 12:13 pm #112614kay-lister
MemberEmily – HOW WONDERFUL for your whole family! I’m SURE you were beaming!!
At the middle age of (cough, cough) 50 something 😉 I would say that my most shining moments as a harpist were about a year and a half ago when I was fortunate enough to have a Masters class with Alice Giles and then a month later, one with Yolanda Kondonassis. I was first up in each event and definately the oldest of the group to participate and IT WAS AMAZING!!! Who woulda thunk it?!
Again, congrats to your daughter!

MemberEmily,
Actually I DO have photos . . . All I have to do is figure out how to get them HERE. Incase you haven’t heard – I’m a self proclaimed “Techidiot”. I’ll see what I can do . . .

ParticipantI’m glad Emily is proud of her daughter. I was an adult when I started playing, but my parents were certainly NOT proud….they thought it was a waste of time. It must be wonderful when parents are supportive!

MemberHi,
No, not yet – I was thinking about that just the other day too. Taking a road trip to pick up my harp from the VA Harp Center this weekend, but maybe the next weekend I can corner my husband and get him to help me get them on. I’m SURE it’s a simple process . . . for MOST people (LOL).

MemberHey there! Nooooo, not a new harp (hmmmm – would like one more though, hehe). I had to get the eyelet replaced on my 85E and it ended up being a trip to VA Harp Center (3 1/2 hrs each way). Didn’t mind though . . . Got a Grandbaby fix while I was there, as my son lives about 1/2 hr. away from VHC and bought lots of new music.
I know, I REALLY need to work on those pictures. I just get doing other things when I get home and forget all about it. I’ll put a “Sticky” on my purse – that always works. Keep checking.
Kay 😉

ParticipantWow, that’s great. I’ve just signed up here tonight, I’m new to harp, started learning last Summer. I live in the UK (Kent) and have been to the Royal Albert Hall twice, amazing venue, I can’t imagine how proud you must have felt of your daughter!!!!! 🙂
