Hi Wil, thanks a lot for all of the very useful and thoughtful information. I have been playing around with ideas since I got the harp but really more and more I like the idea of keeping the character of the harp in its original state by replacing the strings with gut or as you have now suggested I could also consider nylgut, I will check it out.
I had been thinking that I could replace the levers with the new style Camac levers. But more and more I’m thinking that I will give the old levers a chance and see how they perform first. In future if I do decide to change the strings and/or levers I can do the work myself cutting down on labour costs since I have already made two harps and installed Camac levers on them. But as I started out saying, I’m leaning very much toward restringing with gut and enjoying the instrument as it was originally designed. Well thanks a lot for your input it has helped to reinforce my thoughts on how to fix up the harp. Any other ideas or input is always welcome. Very much obliged. 😌
