Mark Norris harps!

Hi!
I still search a lever harp in Europe with a high tension and gut strings. I think about Telynau Teifi and Mark Norris.
I’ve found some vidéos on youtube where I heard Norris’ harp:

I don’t own a Mark Norris, but I have tried them out and can vouch that they are good harps. I have two friends who own them and can only find good things to say about them.
Teifi harps are also good. Yet again, I don’t own one, but know someone who does – he loves it.
The problem with choosing a harp is that once you have got past the stage of “Is it well made” etc, much of what makes it “Good” is very personal. Whilst videos and recordings are better than nothing, they say as much about the recording equipment, sound engineer and player as they do about the instrument.
The only way to choose between two good harps is to try them out in person. And that is not always possible.
So both makes are good – nothing wrong with either, and a lot very right with both.

I’ve played friends’ Norris harps and they are lovely. I like the Teifi Eos harp as well. The Norris harps tend to be a little lighter and more portable although the weight varies depending on the wood used. The Eos harp is gorgeous but I wouldn’t want to have to carry it too far. It has a lovely almost bell like tone though. I’ve not tried their other harps. The people I know who have Norris harps have all been happy with them. I would buy both if I could!

Both Mark Norris and Teifi tend to exhibit at the Edinburgh Harp Festival if you are free at Eastertime 2014.
