My harp went for it’s first trip in the Dodge Grand Caravan today. I can’t express how much easier it was than any car I’ve loaded into in the past. I had bought a chair mat — a shiny slippery one — to lay over the carpet in the back of the van to protect the harp from the seat hooks in the floor. I stowed all the seats. lay the mat down, put a yoga mat for added padding where the neck would be lying. I hit my key fob and pre-heated the car with the remote start, lifted the tailgate with the magical switch on the keyfob, leaned the harp back and slid ‘er in in a trice. It was really really amazing. The whole trip would’ve been just great had not the idiot who entered the freeway on my way home almost plowed into me. He decided to enter and swerve into my lane and then one more over to the left without signalling, and without regard for the fact that there were other cars in his way. I’m glad I saw him and could slow down. What a moron. I would just hate to get in an accident with my harp in the car.

congratulations on your new harpmobile! sounds like good protection from crazy drivers. I was hit by a big pick up truck from the rear a couple of years ago, it drove right over the top of the back of my car.. never will I drive a small car again. The Yoga and chair mats are great ideas to protect the harp in a car.. thanks.

that would not have been a good day to take my harp for a ride in the back seat. I was lucky I was just shook up, no one got seriously hurt other than my car, it was a little BMW and was happy not to have to make payments on it anymore. There was enough left over for me to buy my Avalon, a roomier car (and safer in my eyes too) with a big back seat for harps : )

Briggsie, I interrupted a question for you from Jennifer on the lap harp thread, so I don’t think you saw it.. here is her question ‘Did you have to custom order your knee bones or where did you get them from? Part of the reason, I have a Le Stik for my Brittany is that there isn’t much room either side of the sound hole. I didn’t think a regular knee bones would fit.’ I’m not sure if she will look to this thread for an answer or the other one..
