I’m looking for suggestions for some nice flute (or violin) and harp arrangements to play in church during the Advent/Christmas season, preferably arrangements that are more on the substantial side…anyone have ideas?
Thanks, Kim! That is a great suggestion, and I wouldn’t have looked at those books otherwise. They look like nice arrangements (from the previews on Melody’s website), so I will order them!
Hi, Mary! Kerstin Allvin did a recording of harp and flute Christmas pieces several years ago. It’s called Comfort and Joy, and can be found on Spotify. If you like the arrangements, Kerstin might share some of them with you. She is on Facebook.
Those are some of the Brocks’ arrangements, Melissa.
I might add that anyone who wants to hear them all should look for the earlier CD (also called Comfort and Joy) that Becky and Ernie did. You can get it from amazon.
Thanks to all who responded with ideas! As an update: I did use the Brock books…very nice arrangements, but still easy to read. We also played some music from a book called Christmas Meditations by Gail Salvatori. Those arrangements were really interesting, with some unusual (in a good way) harmonies and arranging. The Salvatori arrangements come with solo instrument parts for viola, violin (or flute), and cello.
