Does anybody know a harpist or even a harp teacher in New Zealand(specifically on the noth Island)? I’m going to stay there for 3 months and I can’t take my harp so I would really appriciate if someone could give me a tip.

My aunt lives in Kerikeri, one hour from Whangarei. That’s in the north of the island.

There are a few teachers in Auckland, but I’m pretty sure there aren’t any right up there!

Kim Webby is a very well known maker of pedal harps; his wife Helen is known as a harpist. Through contact with them you should be able to find a teacher, as they are in Whangarei. Here is the contact information I have from Mr. Webby’s catalogue: 28 Cockburn Street, Onerahi, Whangarei, New Zealand. Tel: (64)(9) 436 0185.

Thank you, though. Do you know if Kim himself gives lessons? Anyway I’ll contact him, maybe I can borrow a harp..
    Thank you very much again.

You could also try contacting the New Zealand Harp Society. Anna Dunwoodie edits the NZ Harp Society newsletter.

Carolyn Mills teaches harp in Wellington and might be able to help you, too.
