    Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with the version of the Grandjany Rhapsodie for harp and chamber orchestra? And do you know if the harp part for the chamber version is the same as the solo version, or not?

    Cheers.

As far as I know, the harp part is the same.

Rosemary- I’m sure the harp part is exactly the same. Unless you’ve got some compelling reason to do this with strings, my own feeling is that the strings don’t really add anything to the piece. It works better as a solo piece. Now, the Tournier Images are another story. The strings parts that he wrote for those are wonderful and turn the solo piece into a real chamberwork.

Yes, the strings are just an add-on. The solo is the solo.

    Thnaks everyone,

That is alot of help – saved me attempting to track down the chamber part! I was even contemplating hiring the score just to check…so thankyou all.

And Carl, I did not know that the Images had string parts??! That sounds wonderful. I suspect you can get them from Lyra? I have the Tournier string parts for the Samuel Rousseau Variations Pastorales, and they really do work.

“Unless you’ve got some compelling reason to do this with strings…”

I had to chuckle when I read this…I got a mental picture of Rosemary trying to play her harp without strings on it, lol!

Now there’s an idea…We should commission Carl to build an all

And the best thing about it would be that you could fold it up and put it in your pocket!

Rosemary- I’m not sure how many of them have string parts. Erica Goodman has a whole CD of Tournier Image with the string parts. They really are great.

    Hi Andy,

Yesss, and he could paint it green so that it had no chance to turn it by accident…

And by the way, hijack as many of my threads as you like, as that is when the fun starts!

    Hi Carl,

Thanks for that, I’ll try to track it down – the CD as well as the parts.

    Cheers!

I’m pretty sure International is the only place to get the parts for the Rhapsodie. Not sure about the Images.

Please do not hold me responsible for un-hijacking in the other thread. It wasn’t my intention at all, and I was enjoying all comments, germain or otherwise.

Thanks for that Barbara, I did get the Rhapsodie string parts from Lyra, but will ask about the Images. I did not see them listed on the catalogue, but then they often have more than what is listed, so I will ask.

    Ta!
