    My understanding of the AB syllabi is that they are not designed so that ‘the majority of newly arrived at grade x level students’ can learn every piece, but that there is something for everyone.

    I know this is a late reply but I thought I’d share anyway!

    I just sat grade 8, and I played the Etude No. 12. I memorised almost the whole thing but decided to have the last three pages to read off…. I got 29/30 for that piece! I didn’t find it too difficult, although I definitely didn’t play it at 108!

    Thank you very much! I also got 29/30 for the 3rd movement of Tailleferre Sonata and 28/30 for Impromptu-Caprice – I was not expecting such good marks!
