I am wondering where to find information/who to speak to to learn about sound enhancement for the harp – I am interested in playing an electro-acoustic pedal harp with piezo-electric pickups on each string. I don’t know anything about electronic sound. I do not want to make it produce strange sounds, just enhance what is already there, as well as amplify the sound. Does anyone have any suggestions of directions to look in, people to contact? Thanks

In my opinion, it’s probably not necessary to have pickups for each string. My own harp had pickups installed every other string as a proof of concept and there is no degradation in sound for the strings without a pickup.

    Start here with Dusty Strings:

You might want to check out the Lyon and Healy harp called “Silhouette”….it is exactly what you are describing.

Oh…I assumed you already owned a pedal harp and wanted to add pickups.

Camac makes electro-acoustic harps in the finish of your choice:

I don’t know if Lyon and Healy or Salvi currently makes an electro-acoustic harp, though I do remembering hearing an electric harp made by Lyon and Healy.

actually, the Silhouette is a lever harp and I just read your post more clearly and you stated pedal harp….sorry! Though the Silhouette is quite cool—I saw a woman playing it on the main street downtown a couple of weeks ago.

Lyon and Healy makes the Style 2000 Concert Grand electroacoustic harp.

If you’re in the US, then David Kortier makes harps like you describe. http://www.kortier.com
