There is a Dusty Strings FH26 available. The original owner recalls that it was purchased in the late nineties. Full levers, matching legs, and carrying case. Said to be in “perfect condition”. Price $1200. Can be inspected locally if interested.

I am retired, and an experienced musician on piano and hammered dulcimer, with no harp experience. Interested in recreational playing for personal enjoyment and with dulcimers and other traditional instruments. I would need to transport it often to jams and events.

    1. Would this be a good choice of instrument for me?
    2. Is this a good price?
    3. What issues might I encounter with an instrument of this age?
    4. Would it be reasonably easy to resell if I eventually discover my “dream instrument”?

Thanks to the members of this forum for all the knowledge available here!

That is a good price for an excellent harp! Very transportable, great sound quality. I have one myself of about the same age. I see no problems at all if it is in very good to excellent condition. I think it would be easy to resell to a student, especially a young one to whom a full size lever harp would be too big. Also a lever harpist who would be interested in a second smaller harp to take to jam sessions, etc. (which is exactly what I use mine for–as well as a spare harp to give lessons on.)

I agree with Andee. If it is, in fact, in great shape, go for it!
