I just came across this as I was searching for harp duets. It’s listed as a composition for 2 players on 1 harp? Just curious on how you actually play it?

One of them better have LONG arms….like a gorilla. That pic is so funny.
Maybe they just didn’t have enough harps to go around, but that’s really a stretch, in more ways than one.

Two players could sit on opposite sides of the harp, but it seems pretty impractical.

I have played this a few times – it is hard on a modern concert grand because the knee block gets in the way, but on a smaller harp (as they were at the time) works quite well. What works on a modern harp is to have three players – one seated playing the inner lines and doing the pedals, then one player for the top line and another for the bottom. Makes a mildly entertaining novelty show piece.

How better to show off two marriagable daughters at the same time?

Tacye, Perhaps because you played the duet before and know how this piece can be performed , you could find another brave harpist and make a video. I would love to see how this duet is performed. It would be entertaining and a great youtube video:))

Out of curiosity I asked someone to sit on the harp, with me standing behind her and play some of the 1st harp’s part. It does seem to work, though I guess the one standing will end up playing very high up on the strings. Quite awkward but it seems doable…and it helps if the one sitting is petite.
