I’m getting a situation on my Pilgrim Malvern pedal harp, where when I move the D pedal to flat, and then play a D, there is a dreadful buzzing noise.

I solve it by twisting one of the D discs, which I can see moves the pedal up.

Obviously I’d like to fix it properly, before I damage things. I’m hundreds of miles from a technician, so I will have to sort it out myself.

    I have Carl Swanson’s book.

What I don’t know is what’s causing this? Pedal spring need replacing? Something needs oiling (if so, where?)

Thank you very much for any help.

Have you asked Pilgrim? They are great at giving advice.

I did that next – don’t know why I didn’t think of it first! It was outside office hours, so hopefully hear more today.

Checking with Pilgrim will probably be your best bet, but Carl Swanson might see your post here and offer some suggestions, like you can see in his book.

    Cheers,

The answer turned out to be PTFE dust and seems to have fixed it 😊 👍🏽

I assume that PTFE dust is a lubricant? How and where did you apply it on the harp to fix this problem? I always like to know, in case I ever have this same problem, you know! Thanks!

    Best to you,
    Balfour
