I’ve become interested in trying a triple harp (Welsh/Baroque) and wonder if it’s possible in the USA. Does anyone make them here? I could also use more into about the strings. Are they always wire? When Monteverdi and Handle wrote pieces for these did they have wire or gut strings? Brays or no brays?
Some individual luthiers in the US have made these when requested; the one I recall off the top of my head is Rick Kemper (Sligo Harps). I would start there with him to get an idea of what one might cost and who else might be willing to do a custom harp for you. Can’t think of any who produce them regularly.
Or of course a performing artist who specializes in one or both of these would know.
Hi, Alesha! I am preparing to sell my Italian style Baroque triple. Please email me privately if you are interested (aliharp@yahoo.com). This is a full sized harp by the English maker Simon Capp. It is used, but that will be reflected in the price. The harp is located just north of Chicago… UPDATE: harp has SOLD
