October 3, 2014

The 8th World Harp Festival in Paraguay takes place Oct. 3–5, 2014, in Asuncion, Paraguay. The event includes three days of concerts, workshops, and master classes by over 50 national artists performing on traditional harps, as well as international artists from North America, South America, and Europe. This year’s festival will honor three “masters” of Paraguayan harp: Papi Galan; Rito Pedersen; and Tito Acuna.

International artists include Maria Fernanda Peralta (Argentina) and Cecilia Pahl; Edmar Castaneda (Colombia); Camille and Kennerly Kitt, a.ka. “The Harp Twins” (U.S.); Vicente La Camera (Spain); and Lena Woods (France).

The annual event first started in 2007 as a way to promote the harp and Paraguay. For more information and a complete list of national artists, visit http://festivalmundialdelarpa.com.py/.
