The USA International Harp Competition (USAIHC) has announced repertoire for its 12th competition. The competition takes place every three years in Bloomington, Ind. and is open to harpists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 32 as of May 1, 2022. All repertoire must be performed from memory, except the winning piece of the composition contest, performed in the third stage.
Stage I
- Andrea Marescotti: Mouvement
- Choose one:
- Elias Parish Alvars: Sérénade, Op. 83
- Jean-Michel Damase: Sicilienne variée
- Choose one:
- Manuel de Falla: Spanish Dance No. 1 “La Vida Breve”
- Carlos Salzedo: Jeux d’eau
Stage II
- Choose one:
- André Caplet: Deux Divertissements
- Pierick Houdy: Sonata for Harp
- Sergiu Natra: Ode to the Harp
- Franz Liszt/Henriette Renié: Un Sospiro
Stage III
- A free-choice recital of 40 minutes to include:
- The winning selection of the USAIHC Composition Contest (max. 8 min.)
- One selection from the Baroque period
Stage IV
- Gabriel Pierné: Concertstück (Op. 39)
- Free choice encore solo to be played after the concerto (max. 8 min.)
