Dr. Ruth Inglefield
January 23, 2021

The USA International Harp Competition (USAIHC) has announced its 7th Ruth Inglefield Composition Contest. Submissions are due Oct. 1, 2021 and recordings are due Nov. 1, 2021. Pieces must be unpublished, unawarded, and between six and eight minutes in length. The winner will receive a $2,000 prize, and the work will be published by Lyon & Healy Harps. The winning composition will also be required repertoire in stage three of the 12th USAIHC, slated for 2022.

In 2019, the contest was posthumously named after its founder and director, Dr. Ruth Inglefield. A champion of contemporary music, Dr. Inglefield created the contest to promote the harp as a solo instrument and encourage young composers to write for the instrument. Composers from over 41 countries have been represented in the contest since its conception in 2003.
