The Yehudi Menuhin School in Stoke d’Abernon, Surrey, England, has launched a new first-study harp program, led by its new Professor of Harp, Keziah Thomas. The harp program includes solo repertoire, chamber music for strings and harp, and orchestral repertoire. Harp students will receive at least two individual lessons each week, as well as take part in a weekly group class, ensembles and orchestras. Other collaborative projects include improvisation workshops and exploring music from different cultures.

“Establishing the first study harp course at The Menuhin School is a thrilling prospect,” says Thomas. “With an abundance of chamber music to explore, numerous performance opportunities and collaborative music making of the highest calibre on offer at the School, I am excited to support the next generation of harpists to develop and flourish.”

The school is also launching a new composition program, which also includes two individual lessons per week, as well as additional projects such as working with chamber groups and orchestras and hearing performances of their works at the school. Students will also have the opportunity to work with visiting composers including Sally Beamish, the Yehudi Menuhin School’s inaugural Composer in Residence for 2023–24.
