Spend your 2018 summer with Harp Column Academy teachers

If you have been enjoying lessons with our Harp Column Academy master teachers, you have the opportunity to study with many of them in person this summer as they teach at camps, festivals, and masterclasses all over the United States and across the world. See below for a selection of events and courses led by harp experts to help you continue your studies.

Nicole Brady

July 9 – July 14, 2018: Utah Suzuki Harp Institute in Logan, Utah for Suzuki harp students. Participants will take part in masterclasses, repertoire, technique and theory classes, a “twisted review,” and will have the option to participate in an array of enrichment classes.

July 10 July 16, 2018: Kioloa Winter Harp Course in New South Wales, Australia. Open to students of all levels, it includes individual lessons, hands-on practice sessions, yoga, ensembles, workshops, and a teaching seminar.

July 26, 2018: Masterclass at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. This program will include a lecture on her recent bookOne Stone to the Building, detailing the life of Henriette Renié.

Aug. 4, 2018: UNT Summer Harp Masterclass in Denton, Texas for students of all levels. This one-day harp immersion event includes masterclasses and a performance wellness clinic.

July 23 Aug. 4, 2018: Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine. Participants are offered lessons, coachings, studio classes, masterclasses, seminars, solo and chamber performances, community engagement, and non-musical activities. Students can choose from the 3-week and 6-week sessions.

July 1 July 6, 2018: An Chúirt Chruitireachta in Grianan, Ireland for Irish harpists of all ages. This program offers concerts, workshops, and sessions with a full range of techniques and styles. 

July 8 – July 14, 2018: Swannanoa Gathering Celtic Week in Asheville, N.C. This program is intended for beginner, intermediate, advanced level students with classes in Irish and Scottish traditional music.

July 31 – Aug. 10, 2018: Harp Tour of Ireland, focusing on harp-related sites and activities, with concerts, sessions, and a lot of sightseeing.

July 19 – July 22, 2018: Somerset Folk Harp Festival in Somerset, New Jersey. This four-day conference offers concerts and workshops in a wide variety of genres and styles.

July 15  Aug. 4, 2018: Curtis Young Artist Program for students ages 14-22. The Philadelphia based program includes weekly private lessons, orchestra repertoire masterclasses, chamber music coachings with Bridget, in addition to large ensemble rehearsals and an optional concerto competition.

April 28  May 5, 2018: Academie Camac in Dijon, France. This program includes daily intensive private lessons, informal performance opportunities, and ample practice time.

Aug. 5 – Aug. 10, 2018: Summeracademy in Oslo, Norway, for students ages 18-28, with individual coachings and masterclasses.

June 25  June 29, 2018: Global String Intensive in Boston, Mass., for ages 14+. This program includes lessons, string ensemble, evening concerts, harp jams, and an improvising harp lab. 

July 7 – Aug. 10, 2018: Berklee Five Week Summer Performance Program in Boston, Mass., for students in high school and college, in addition to adult musicians. This program offers ensembles, improvisation and reading workshops, weekly lessons, and recording opportunities.

May 29 – Aug. 17, 2018: Twelve Week Full-Credit Summer Program in Boston, Mass., for ages 16+. Students can receive a semester of college credit and explore life at Berklee more fully.

Aug. 23  Aug. 26, 2018: Harps in the Glen in Cedar Valley, Wis. for harpists of all ages, with workshops, masterclasses, harp ensemble, and an informal harp circle.

Sept. 14 – Sept. 16, 2018: Harps in the Glen in Port Townsend, Wash. for harpists of all ages, with
workshops, masterclasses, harp ensemble, and an informal harp circle.

Kim Robertson

June 15  June 17, 2018: High Cascades Harp Retreat in Jefferson County, Ore. This program offers workshops and lessons in a rustic setting with gourmet meals.

Aug. 13 – Aug. 17, 2018: Milwaukee Irish Fest Summer School in Milwaukee, Wis., with classes on different instruments, Celtic crafts and culture, student sessions, and faculty concerts.

Sept. 27  Sept. 30, 2018: Spanish Peaks Harp Retreat in Cuchara, Colo. for students of all levels. This program includes harp circles, meditation sessions, rhythm and modal workshops, and evening concerts.

Park Stickney

July 19  July 29, 2018: Brazilian Jazz Harp Immersion. This program is located two hours from Rio de Janeiro and offers theory classes, focus area sessions, pedal bootcamps, play-alongs, Brazilian dance classes, and private lessons. 

Aug. 6 – Aug. 12, 2018: 4th Jazz Harp Camp in Valeyres, Switzerland, for advanced pedal harpists but beginning jazz musicians. This camp offers masterclasses, private lessons, jazz theory, harmony classes, and rhythmic training. 

Aug. 27 – Aug. 31, 2018: Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento in Saluzzo, Italy. This program includes both masterclasses and private lessons.
