The New Bedford (Mass.) Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) has appointed Maria Rindenello Spraker principal harpist, following auditions held Jan. 18.

“I’m honored to be joining the fantastic musicians of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra!” Rindenello Spraker says. “I love that the NBSO season always contains such a variety of repertoire and different kinds of concert events. I look forward to playing the annual Symphony on Tap and winter Pops (Video Game Pops!), as well as concerts with some of the best orchestral harp parts from Bernstein, de Falla, and Ravel.”

Rindenello Spraker performs regularly with orchestras and chorales in Massachusetts. She also maintains and repairs harps as a member of the Lyon & Healy/Salvi Harp Technicians Guild. Rindenello Spraker was a prize winner in the Advanced Division of the 18th American Harp Society National Competition. She received both her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the New England Conservatory in Boston with Ann Hobson Pilot, with whom she studied harp for more than 10 years.
