The Belgian National Orchestra (BNO) has selected Italian harpist Virginia Pestugia as one of its new Orchestra Academy members for the 2024–2025 season. Students at Belgium’s eight conservatories and music schools audition at their conservatory; selected candidates proceed to auditions held at either the BNO or La Monnaie (Belgium’s Royal Opera House).
The Orchestra Academy is a double orchestral internship, offering young musicians the opportunity to gain professional experience by taking part in an opera production or a symphony concert with La Monnaie and a symphony concert with the Belgian National Orchestra, while receiving individual coaching. Additionally, academy members have the opportunity to participate in workshops, masterclasses, and chamber music projects with musicians from the orchestra.
