The New Orleans Jazz and Pop Harp Weekend has announced their lineup, which will include harpists Louise Trotter and Lori Andrews, and Bart Samolis on bass. The event will take place June 11–14, 2015, at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans Airport Hotel.
“We want to encourage students to explore avenues of making music other than orchestral playing and solo recitals,” says organizer Patrice Fisher. “The more versatile that our harp students become, the more opportunities they will have to work as professional musicians.” Fisher will be joined by Rachel Van Voorhees and Ivory McCann to lead workshops on improving jazz skills and generating an interest among students to study jazz harp. Other events include daily jam sessions, faculty concerts, a visit to the New Orleans French Quarter, and more.
