Nippon Harp Competition Names Winners

The 25th Nippon Harp Competition was held in Soka City November 13–17, 2013. Prizes were awarded in the Professional Division as follows:

1st: Oksana Sushkova (Russia)
2nd: Noël Wan (Taiwan)
3rd: Hinako Hara (Japan)
4th (tie): Nozomi Masuda (Japan), Tomoko Takada (Japan)

Finalists performed Reinhold Glière’s Concerto for harp and orchestra Op.74.

The Nippon Harp Competition is organized by the Nippon Harp Association and the SokaCity Cultural Association for the purpose of promoting harp music in Japan and fostering young harpists. Since the first competition held in 1989, it has been held annually in cooperation with Soka City. Past winners include MarikoAnraku, Gwyneth Wentink, and Jane Yoon. The 26th Nippon Harp Competition will be held November 13–16, 2014, for Advanced and Junior Divisions. Information can be found at www.harp-japan.com.
