Harpist Doriene Marselje is releasing a new album Interference on the TRPTK X label. The album is available on all major streaming platforms starting Sept. 20. Marselje is launching the album at a release party at 3 p.m. on Sept. 22 in Noordwaards, Amsterdam (The Netherlands). “I’ll be performing pieces from the album alongside my interactive, immersive light installation,” she says. “After the performance, there will be time to mingle, enjoy some drinks, and purchase physical copies of the album.”

“For this project, I collaborated with composers Valerio Sannicandro and Tony Roe, who recently won the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize, the highest jazz award in the Netherlands. They’ve written new works for harp and electronics, which I’m incredibly proud of,” Marselje says. “Sannicandro composed Cortex for harp and voice, and Roe’s Interference for harp and electronics consists of four very distinctive movements. The album also features [Kaija] Saariaho’s Fall and [Toshio] Hosokawa’s Re-Turning II.”

According to the album’s liner notes, Marselje’s goal is “[to explore] a wide palette of new sounds and timbres, electronics and vocals along with the harp, merging tradition and experimentation.” For more information, visit the artist’s website.
