Harpist Mary Lattimore and accordion player Walt McClements have released their debut recording as a duo, Rain on the Road, now available via Bandcamp. According to the album notes, “the Los Angeles-based duo became quick friends on overlapping tours, sharing both a drive to push the sonic possibilities of their instruments and roots in North Carolina.” The album’s five tracks consist of a series of edited improvisations, incorporating additional instrumentation such as handbells and piano. Some tracks also feature field recordings, including one that captures “an unexpected morning encounter with bears at Lattimore’s family cabin near Asheville.”
