The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Harp Society is sponsoring the 2nd Los Angeles Celebrates the Harp New Music Composition Contest for Flue and Harp. Three prizes up to $1,000 will be awarded. The competition requires newly-composed, not previously performed or published works for flute and harp 8–12 minutes in length, focused on the theme of water.
Non-commercial mp3 recordings are due June 1, 2016, and winners will be announced by July 1. Winning compositions will be performed and recorded at a November, 2016 concert sponsored by the LA chapter. The chapter is also sponsoring the free composition workshop Writing for Flute and Harp on Feb. 2, 2016, at California State University, Northridge.
