Korea International Harp Competition Calls for Entries

The Korea International Harp Competition is calling for entries to its inaugural event by Thursday, April 30. The competition takes place May 23–26, 2015 in Seoul, and is open to harpists of any nationality in three divisions: Junior Division (11 and under); Youth Division (17 and under); and Young Professional Division (31 and under).

“This is the first of its kind in Korea,” says co-director Jung Kwak, who emphasizes that “it is not only a one-time competition, but [endeavors to] really truly find a prospering artist. We will continue to support the winners in many ways, not only in Korea but worldwide.” Maria Luisa Rayan also serves as a co-director. Jury members include Milda Agazarian, Jana Bouskova, Linda Wood Rollo, Susann McDonald, and DaeJin Kim.

Repertoire includes standard works for each level, plus one free choice piece. Prizes range from approx. $100 to $1,400, plus performance and scholarship opportunities.
