The North Coast Harp Institute’s first summer intensive event with harpist Yolanda Kondonassis will take place June 15–18 at The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM).

Kondonassis, who has led the harp department at CIM since 1997, notes, “After a memorable ten-day program in 2022 in Hancock, Maine—known as the Maine Coast Harp Institute—the change from ‘Maine Coast’ to ‘North Coast’ was a practical one with the goal of making programs more easily supported with modern infrastructure and centralizing in-person opportunities for harpists in my home city of Cleveland, Ohio. I am so grateful to The Cleveland Institute of Music for making their beautiful facility available and for partnering in this effort.”

The North Coast Harp Institute says its 2023 summer session offers harpists an intensive training experience featuring topic seminars and masterclasses, as well as private lesson opportunities on June 15 and June 18. All events and lessons will be with Kondonassis. Participants will stay in CIM’s new residence facility, near CIM’s main complex.

The framework of the event will feature two morning seminars and two afternoon masterclasses. Seminar topics will include audition preparation, practice techniques, performance strategies, body care and preventing injury, harp technique, musical development, and more.
