The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra has appointed Ellie Kirk principal harpist following two days of auditions, held May 11–12. Kirk begins performing with the orchestra in the 2023–2024 season.
Kirk has served in orchestral harp positions with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She holds a master’s degree in orchestral performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied with Marguerite Lynn Williams, principal harpist with the Lyric Opera Orchestra. She has also appeared in concerts with the Lyric Opera and the Chicago Harp Quartet.
