Houston Symphony Orchestra announces principal harp opening

The Houston Symphony Orchestra has announced an opening for principal harp. Applicants must send a audition application and one-page resume by email to hssauditions@houstonsymphony.org by Oct. 15. Please see the audition listing for more details on the application procedure.

Audition preliminaries and semifinals will take place Jan. 14 and Jan. 16, 2023. The final round of auditions will be held Jan. 17, 2023.

According to its website, the Houston Symphony serves more than 410,000 people annually, including more than 225,000 through free and low-cost programs, events, and concerts. In 2015, the Houston Symphony began hiring Community-Embedded Musicians, an initiative that places professional orchestral musicians in schools, neighborhoods, and health-care settings. The Houston Symphony also serves more than 46,000 elementary, middle and high school students from 350 schools in more than 20 Texas school districts each year, through programs such as low-cost or free student concerts in Jones Hall, musician classroom visits, and school residencies.
