The Houston Grand Opera has announced principal harp auditions, to be held April 3–4 in Houston. Applicants must register and submit a resume by March 3. Selected applicants will be notified of an invitation to audition by March 10. The winner of this audition would be engaged to begin playing with the orchestra in the 2024–25 season, beginning in October 2024.
The Houston Grand Opera Orchestra is a core group of 49 musicians and is the sole orchestra for the Houston Grand Opera. The 2023–24 principal harp per-service rate is $375.38 with 72 guaranteed services (approximately $27,000 in guaranteed wages).
