Harpist Cecily Beer has released a new Christmas EP accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of London. Carols of the Harp is available now on major streaming platforms, including Apple Music, YouTube, and Spotify. The three new arrangements by Thomas Hewitt Jones (who also produced the EP) were recorded this September at the chapel of Royal Holloway, University of London, with conductor Rupert Gough.

“This new music from Thomas Hewitt-Jones has been the biggest joy to learn and record,” Beer says. “We had both agreed we wanted something that sparkled but with familiar melodies which people know and love. For me, the upbeat tracks, Sussex Carol and Bell Carol, are exactly what I want to be listening to while dancing around my kitchen making Christmas lunch; while the final track, Silent Night, has the perfect balance of joy that comes with this sublime new string arrangement, and nostalgia for a melody we all know and love so well.”

Based in Camberley, Surrey, Beer has performed all over the world including Europe, the Middle East, Australasia, French Polynesia, and the United States. She has held the position of Resident Harpist at The Waldorf Hotel, Covent Garden since 2014, and regularly plays a mixture of private events, solo, ensemble, and orchestral engagements. Beer is also a choral singer, leading to her specialization in music for harp and choir. She was featured on Classic FM’s “Carols by Candlelight” broadcast on Christmas Eve 2023.
